This 2-Day Rwenzori Mountains Trek is perfect for those wanting to experience Rwenzori Mountains National Park without going to the top. Following the Kilembe Route this hike takes you 5 – 6 hours up to the Sine Camp at 2,596 meters on the first day and 4 to 5 hours back to Kilembe on day two. You pass through jungles and rocky landscapes, see beautiful waterfalls, birds, plants, wildlife and enjoy stunning landscapes in general.

Day 1: Hike to the Sine Camp
As your 2 day Rwenzori hiking adventure begins, complete a briefing with your guides at Kilembe (1,450m), before beginning the trek to Sine Camp at 2,596 metres. You will hike through the lust rainforests of the Afro-montane forest zone. It is a steady climb for approximately 6 kilometers before hiking through a steep section towards Sine Camp.
The hike is a great chance to see a variety of birds of Rwenzori Mountains National Park as well the beautiful Black and white colobus Monkeys. Today you will cover a total distance of around 9.5km over 5-6 hours.
At Sine Camp 2,596 metres you will sleep in wooden huts set between tall forest trees on a narrow ridge where you may sit and enjoy the beauty forest while you look down at a long set of rapids and waterfall crashing over the rocks.
Some trekkers prefer to sit outside enjoying the warmth of the campfire and chat to the guides about the mountains and life in their community. Sine Hut is just below the bamboo zone and the area around has many different bird species.
Day 2: Sine Camp to Kilembe
After a delicious breakfast, you will set off towards the path down to the beautiful Enock falls, just a few hundred metres from Sine Camp.
You will cross the river and begin a steady descent hike through the pristine forest with a multitude of birds towards the base camp. There are several patches of bamboo while other areas the trees are laced with hundreds of vines hanging between trees which have bright green lichen on them. This is also another great opportunity to see Colobus Monkeys. Debrief at base camp before continuing your onward journey.
