7 Day Best of Zanzibar Holiday Package | Details
Day 1: Arrivals, Hotel Transfers
When you arrive at Zanzibar Airport, our driver welcomes you to the island. From the airport, you are transferred to you to your overnight hotel. The rest of the first day is free for you to rest after your trip. Take a swim in the pool or head out and see the sights of Zanzibar City.
In the evening you can go on a culinary adventure at the Forodhani Market in Forodhani Gardens. The gardens are located along the seashore and are very popular for a daytime stroll to enjoy the views of some of Stone Town’s historical buildings.
But, it is at night that the gardens really come alive, with the bustling evening market. Feast on Zanzibari seafood, pizza, falafel as big as your face, sugar cane juice, enormous samosas, coconut bread, and crepes dripping with ribbons of chocolate syrup. Alternatively, you can end the first day of your Zanzibar vacation with sundowners on the hotel terrace and dine in the hotel restaurant.
Day 2: Prison Island, Nakupenda Sandbank, Welcome Dinner
After breakfast at around 9.30 am, our driver will take you from your hotel for a 30-minute boat ride to Prison Island, also known as Changuu Island. Formerly owned by the Oman Arabs, Prison Island was privately used as a place of detention for disobedient slaves. It was established in 1893 as a central prison for Zanzibar, hence the name “Prison Island”.
Our tour guide will give you more history of this incredible Island, and then you will have fun time to feed the Giant tortoises and take photos with them.
These Aldabra giant tortoises here are among the largest tortoises in the world, and thought to be one of the longest-lived creatures in the world. It’s estimated that the oldest tortoise on Changuu is 196 years old – now that’s a Zanzibar attraction!
After some time at Prison Island, take a boat trip (30 minutes) to the nearby Nakupenda Sandbank. Get prepared to snorkel and swim, have the test of mouthwatering tropical fruits with delicious seafoods lunch under the shade of built umbrellas. In the evening you will be brought at the shores from where you will transfer back to your hotel for a welcome dinner.
Day 3: Jozani Forest/the Rock Restaurant, Kae Beach.
After breakfast at about 9 am, you will be transferred to Jozani Forest where you will have 2-3 hours of exploring the forest on a nature walk to see Red Colobus monkeys and you can visit the nearby butterflies Centre (if interested).
Jozani Forest is the largest area of indigenous forest on Zanzibar Island. Situated south of Chwaka Bay, the whole area is protected as Jozani-Chwaka National Park, and is famously home to populations of Zanzibar red colobus monkey (an endangered species found only on Zanzibar) as well as other monkey species and more than 40 species of birds.
In the afternoon (1.30 pm) you will be driven to Michamvi/Paje beach (East Coast) for a beach break including visiting the Rock Restaurant for Lunch/Dinner or just for a drink.
You will then enjoy a beach relaxation up to 4 pm before driving to Kae Beach for sunset watching with acrobatic dance. After sunset, you will drive to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Free Day
Wake up in paradise and enjoy a full day of freedom to indulge in the beautiful island surrounds.
Take the opportunity to snorkel in the transparent waters, walk the stretch of powder white sand and paddle in the bath-like Indian Ocean, dine on freshly caught sumptuous seafood or simply relax in a hammock underneath a coconut tree with a good book.
There are many ways you can spend your day – perhaps talk to your leader for any recommendations. Overnight is in the same hotel on Bed and Breakfast basis.
Day 5: Maasai World, Swimming with Turtles, Lunch at Kendwa Rocks, Beach Relaxation
After breakfast at 09:30am, drive to Nungwi. Have a one hour Maasai World tour to learn about Maasai culture right in Zanzibar. You’ll see the tools and clothes traditionally used by Maasai people and get to try your hand at shooting a bow and arrow.
Get the chance to ask questions about local customs from Maasai people. From 12 pm to 1 pm, you will go swimming with Sea Turtles in Nungwi (Baraka Turtle Aquarium) before enjoying lunch and beach relaxation at Kendwa beach.
Dinner and overnight will be in your hotel.
Day 6: Stone Town City Visit, Lunch at Capetown Fish Market, Sunset Cruise
Your leisurely breakfast today will be followed by a drive to Stone for city walking and final shopping. A guide will walk with you around the narrow streets of the historic Stone Town. Explore the mosques, palaces, and courtyards.
Visit the Darajani Market where you will be able to randomly shop from souvenirs shops and take instagrammable photos, exploring the culture of Swahili people. After that, enjoy delightful lunch at Cape Town Fish Market.
When the sun is setting, go for a sunset cruise in a semi luxury Yacht. End your day with a farewell dinner with DJ, Acrobatic dance and Bonfire.
Day 7: Back Home
