Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival In Zanzibar -Nungwi.

Arrival in Zanzibar airport where you will be met with our driver and be taken to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Dolphin Tour And Mnemba Island Snorkeling.

You will depart from the hotel in Nungwi/Matemwe at 9 am for boat cruise to Mnemba island (often wrongly referred to as an atoll), a jewel sitting in the sea.

You will enjoy Swimming with Dolphins followed by snorkeling experience from the boat at the reef itself, a few hundred metres from the island. If the time is right, you may even see the green turtles heading to lay their eggs at the beach. You will return to shore in late afternoon for beach relaxation and witnessing Sunset. Dinner and overnight will be in your hotel in Nungwi.

Day 3: Baraka Turtle Aquarium, The Rock Restaurant – Paje.

After breakfast at 9 am, you will visit Baraka Turtle Aquarium to swim with Sea Turtles (swimming with them is optional). At 12pm we will drive to Paje via The Rock Restaurant for lunch. This restaurant promises a unique dining experience with all-natural, fresh, and passionately prepared food. Dinner and overnight will be in your hotel in Paje.

Day 4: Beach Relaxation In Paje.

You have a free day to relax on the beautiful beaches of Paje. This beach escape in the south of the Zanzibar island boats a shoreline dotted with beautiful palm trees, whose fronds offer some welcome shade from the intense sun. Out at the Ocean, the water is virgin blue, flawless to the horizon, where it seems to melt into the sky.

Paje Beach also has a local feel. Here, you can see Zanzibari women in colorful headscarves as they walk this beach daily on the way to local seaweed farms that harvest therapeutic seaweeds for export to Asia. The swimming is good at high tide and there is excellent snorkeling, diving, fishing and kite-surfing offshore. You can also take an excursion to Jozani Forest to see the rare Zanzibar Red-Colobus monkeys if you’re interested.

Dinner and overnight will be in your hotel (Not included in the price).

Day 5: Free Day Beach Relaxation In Paje.

You have a free day to relax on the beautiful beaches of Paje. Dinner and overnight will be in your hotel.

Day 6: Kuza Caves.

After Break leave Paje for Jambiani to visit, Kuza Cave, a surreal jungle sinkhole with perfect blue waters. Traditional dances and cooking lessons are among the activities at Kuza.

Day 7: Safari Blue-Stone Town.

We will leave Paje at 0730am to Fumba village where our sailing boat will be awaiting to take us to Kwale Island for Blue Water Safari – The highlight of Zanzibar.

We will sail in a beautiful traditional wooden dhow, watch Dolphins (if we have a chance of seeing them) at play, snorkel over the reefs of Menai Bay conservation area, feast on a Swahili influenced seafood buffet that include Fish on coconut source, Rice, French Fries, Calamari, Lobster, Prawns, Octopus and tropical fruits.

We will visit a Baobab tree believed to be more than 500years old before sailing back to Fumba village and drive to Stone Town for dinner and overnight.

Day 8: Spice Farm Tour -Masingini Forest

After a leisurely breakfast at around at round 9 am, you will embark on a 20 to 30 minute drive to a Spice Farm. En route, you will learn about the rich history of Zanzibar Island. Already ancient sailors reported islands full of scents, and Arab Traders travelled as early as the 18th century to Unguja, the largest island that make up Zanzibar Archipelago for spices.

You will get to know how Zanzibar got its nickname (the Spice Island) in the 15th century and learn about growing and harvesting of different spice plants. You’ll also discover why pepper and cloves were so valuable, and you will probably find out for the first time that nutmeg wrap is also a very special spice.

Cinnamon – the queen of spices -has several healing properties in addition to its intoxicating aroma. To leave you in frenzy, we won’t reveal all the spices you will observe, smell, touch, and taste. You can have lunch in the Spice Farm prepared by local women group there. After Lunch you will visit Masingini Forest Reserve for a nature walk.

Dinner and overnight in Stone Town.

Day 9: Prison Island & Nakupenda Sandbank.

At 9 am you will be taken from your hotel and start this memorable day with a good-half-an-hour boat trip to Prison Island, also known as Changuu Island, located in the Zanzibar Archipelago. Previously owned by Oman Arabs, Prison Island was used as a place of detention for disobedient slaves. It was built in 1893 as a Zanzibar central prison, hence the name ‘Prison Island’.

Today the Island is where you’ll be able to relax a bit and enjoy superb views after visiting the giant tortoises’ reserve, where you will admire, pet, and even feed these magnificent, ancient, peaceful creatures. Here you will also have an opportunity to do some snorkeling around the coral reefs, admire colorful fish, many beautiful starfish, and picturesque seashells.

In the early afternoon you will take a 30 minute boat trip to Nakupenda Island and sandbank. Nakupenda means ‘I love you’, and you will feel loved there – gentle sand spilling over your feet while walking and super-friendly personnel tending your needs.

Swim, sunbathe and snorkel the crystal clear waters. After a dive, you’ll enjoy your BBQ of fresh seafood, drinks, and tropical fruits under the shade of built umbrellas. Filled with energy for a new adventure wave goodbye to Nakupenda beach and embark on boat cruise to shores for an hour break before joining a sunset cruise at 5-7pm (optional). Dinner and overnight in stone town.

Day 10: Stone Town Tour- Home.

After breakfast at around 8 am, you will have a chance to take a walking tour of Stone Town. Stone Town is the cultural and historical heart of the island and the old city area of Zanzibar City.

You will visit the fruit market, which opened in 1904, with its variety of tropical fruits and spices. You will also tour the Anglican Cathedral, which was built in 1874 on the site of the former slave market. The guide will tell you about the cities slave history and show you the place where slaves were auctioned.

Your next stop will be the National Museum of Zanzibar, which is also referred to as the Peace Memorial Museum. The museum holds a wide collection of the island’s natural history and artifacts. Then you will walk to the Forondhani Gardens, where you will see the former British Consulate, a place where explorers such as Dr. Livingston and Stanley came for administrative matters before explorations.

You will also explore the Old Fort, which is situated few meters away, and the tallest building in Zanzibar, House of Wonders, which was built by the Sultan as a ceremonial and administrative building.

With a refreshing walk in the narrow streets you will explore the old houses, most of which are older than 150 years. You will complement your tour with a visitation of Dr. Livingston House. The last stop of your excursion will be Marahubi where we will see the Ruins of Sultan Barghash’s Palace. At your own planned time, drive to Zanzibar airport for your flight home.
