This 4 Days Lake Mburo & Queen Elizabeth Safari is one of the best short trips that nature lovers can do on a safari in Uganda.
You will visit the two beautiful and most accessible savanna parks in Uganda: Lake Mburo National Park and Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Lake Mburo is the best place in Uganda to see zebras, impalas, and the gigantic eland antelope and has about 68 different mammal species: buffalo, giraffes, bushbucks, waterbucks, leopards, hyenas, warthogs, and jackals. There are 5 lakes within the park which hosts hippos, crocodiles and a variety of waterbirds.
Queen Elizabeth National Park is also a stunning savanna park located on the floor of the Great Rift Valley near the snow-capped Rwenzori Mountains. The park is home to famous tree climbing lions only spotted in Ishasha sector. It is named after the Queen of England in 1954 following her visit.
It is also home to 612 bird species which is the 6th highest diversity in the world and the highest in Africa, in addition to 10 primate species including Chimpanzees and 95 mammal species including four of the Big Five.

Detailed Safari Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park, Boat Cruise.
Your 4 Days Lake Mburo & Queen Elizabeth Safari starts at around 7 am.
Your tour guide/driver will pick you up from your place of stay in Kampala or Entebbe and take you on a journey west to Lake Mburo National Park (approximately 240km/3-4 hour drive).
You will break this journey in Kayabwe after driving about 77km from Kampala. Here you will have a chance to stretch your legs.
You will also get an opportunity for the Equator Crossing Experience in Uganda. Here you can stand on the Equator Monument with one leg in the Northern hemisphere while the other in the Southern and pose for a photo!
It is a great site for photography.
There are also amazing water experiments which can be carried out to prove to you that indeed this point is the middle of the Earth. The experiment is done by an expert and at 0┬░ (Zero degrees), something happens.
You will retreat from this break and continue on the drive to Lake Mburo National Park. On arrival, you check in at the lodge and settle for lunch. In afternoon, you will go for relaxed boat cruise on the peaceful Lake Mburo that will expose to a variety of wildlife and amazing scenery!
You will have spectacular sightings of hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, bushbucks, waterbucks, and waterbirds. Retire from the encounter and do a simple game drive as you connect to the lodge.
Optional: Night Game Drive: You can go out for a night safari in the park to see the nocturnal species. Predators like hyenas and leopards are most active at this time and chances of seeing them are high.

Day 2: Walking Safari in Mburo. Visit Igongo Cultural Centre & Transfer To Queen Elizabeth National Park.
After an early morning breakfast on day two of your 4 Days Lake Mburo & Queen Elizabeth Safari, you will have a walking safari in Lake Mburo Park.
This is one of Uganda’s most interesting game walks, in a gorgeous area with a knowledgeable local ranger guide.
On the nature walk you will have a chance to see various species of primates, birds, antelopes like Eland, Waterbuck, Impala, Topi, Bushbuck and Klipspringer among others, as well as Hyena, Buffalo, Giraffe, Zebra and Warthog. All this in a beautiful savannah landscape dotted with great Acacia trees.
After the walk, you will return to your lodge and check out.
You will then visit Igongo Cultural Centre to explore the cultural museum which has a collection of Art crafts and Photos that represent Norms, Customs and Traditions and the history of the people of South Western Uganda.
Igongo also features a top restaurant, craft centers and shops. You will also enjoy a traditional lunch before proceeding on a drive to Queen Elizabeth Park. You will drive via stunning Rift valley region as you view the foothill of Rwenzori Mountains or Mountains of the Moon.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive In Kasenyi Sector, Afternoon Boat Cruise On Kazinga Channel, & Evening Game Drive Along The Channel Track.
Your day three of the 4 Days Lake Mburo & Queen Elizabeth Safari will begin with an early breakfast at the lodge.
Then set out on a morning game drive through the Kasenyi Plains. This section, apart from the great wildlife, is also one of the prettiest in the park, especially in the golden light of the morning.
You will have an opportunity to tick some impressive African big game species, such as Buffalos, Elephants, Lions, Leopards, Uganda Kobs, Bushbucks, Hippos, Giant Forest Hog, Warthog, Hyenas, Jackals and various smaller creatures.
You can also look to pick some special bird species Hobby, Palm-nut Vulture, Ruppell’s Vulture, Bateleur, Brown Snake Eagle, Grey Kestrel, Grey Crowned Cranes, Papyrus Gonolek, and Pel’s Fishing Owl. After our game drive you will return to the lodge for relaxation and lunch. In the afternoon, you have another thrilling activity planned!
You’ll transfer the Mweya jetty for a 2 hour boat cruise on starting at 2pm. Taking the boat trip on the Kazinga Channel is a must-do activity on a wildlife safari in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
The trip give you the chance to cruise just metres from hundreds of hippos while African Buffalo and African Elephants linger on the shoreline, along with waterbirds such as African Skimmer, Pink-backed and Great White Pelican, White-breasted Cormorant, African Openbill, Saddle-billed Stork, Glossy Ibis, African Wattled Lapwing, Water Thick-knee, Grey-hooded Gull, and White-winged and Gull-billed Tern) and Nile Crocodiles.
After the boat cruise you will do a short game drive along the channel track as you head back to the lodge. You will freshen up, relax and enjoy a delicious dinner.
After your exciting day in Queen, you will get a good night’s sleep.
